Meet Catherine
Hi, and welcome to my little home on the internet. I’m so glad you’re here!
I am a native Texan with a passion for weekend travel. I love documenting my adventures by sharing travel guides, photographs, and tips to inspire you to seek more travel experiences.
How did my love of travel and blog get started?
My idea for weekend trips started in 2020. Before 2020, I traveled about once or twice a year. It’s normal for most Americans to take one or two big trips. I fell into that category. I would work consistently for six to twelve months and then take a week off, only visiting one to two new places each year.
In 2020, my entire travel perspective changed, and I had the idea to take shorter trips more often. This idea came about after coming home from a trip in February 2020. We all know what happened in 2020. Only weeks after returning home from my trip, the lockdowns began.
I realized during that time that I could miss out on experiences around the world, and traveling was something I did not want to take for granted ever again. So, I re-evaluated my priorities and recognized that travel was more important than ever.
“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”
-Ibn Battuta
Ultimately, I realized that it was possible to have epic experiences, even if only for a short period. It’s also much easier for us working 9-5 corporate jobs. Taking weeks off at a time can sometimes be difficult but taking a Friday or Monday off work allows you to be present for your weekly responsibilities AND have epic getaways.
So, two years after that initial idea, my travel blog was born.
Now, I pursue weekend travel and short getaways as often as possible, and weekend trips enable me to see more places than ever before. Each destination explored has become an outlet for me to be creative through photography and blogging. My enthusiasm for photos and travel go hand in hand as I share the beautiful places I visit.
I hope my blog serves as a reminder that you don’t have to spend weeks backpacking abroad to create unforgettable travel memories. Incorporating weekend travel will open your mind to foods, people, and places and leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated like never before.
Happy exploring!
