When you think of the advantages of blogging, the list may feel endless. Creativity, challenging oneself, passion, and learning new skills may come to mind. While I could go on and on about the creative spark I feel when I recap a destination or share resources on my passions, like photography, I will try to keep it brief.
Here are five advantages of blogging.
1. Relationship Building
One of the top advantages of blogging is connecting with my readers. Once I get home from a trip, I put a lot of effort and thoughtfulness into sharing guides and itineraries for your next getaway. I love it when you interact in the comments, and we can chat about our shared love of adventure.
2. Creating a Community
As someone who works full-time, I crave weekend travel. It’s easier for my work schedule and doesn’t feel too overwhelming to get away for a few days compared to a two-week European vacation. One day!
When I travel, I go from sunup to sundown. Sometimes, I share travel stories with friends and coworkers, and they can’t believe how much I can accomplish in only two to three days at a destination. Because that’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I love that blogging has allowed me to create a community of like-minded (intense!) travel people.
3. Personal Development
One mantra I have for myself is “Keep developing yourself.” I never feel like I’ve “made it” in any one area, and I believe that’s a good thing. There is always room for improvement. One of the ways that blogging has strengthened my personal development is by teaching myself new skills, like building and maintaining a website, and learning search engine optimization (SEO), to name a few.
4. A Sense of Purpose
Another advantage is that blogging has given me a sense of purpose by allowing me to identify my passions and strengths and then align my actions with those passions. For me, that is done by sharing blog posts.
While the trips are always a blast, I get just as much excitement sharing a recommendation and hearing how much you loved it. They are frequently restaurant and hotel recommendations, but I love sharing my sense of purpose with others.
5. Most of All, Fun
This item should have been first, but I saved the best for last. A significant advantage of blogging is that it’s fun. Work and life are busy, and we all have obligations, but a blog is a fun and creative outlet outside the craziness. I’ll scream it from the rooftops: blogging is so much fun!
