If you’ve ever found yourself angry, waking up to a jolting alarm sound, you may be interested in learning more about how you, too, can improve your sleep routine.
So, is it too good to be true, or is the Hatch alarm clock worth it?

Overview
I purchased the Hatch Restore 2 in May 2024, and now that I’ve used it for over one year, I feel qualified to share my perspective. Today, they are on the Hatch Restore 3, but aside from the button layout, the models are essentially identical.
Two items of concern prompted me to make the purchase, even though I couldn’t believe I was spending so much money on an alarm clock at the time. The clock I used up to this point was around twenty bucks from Target.
My first concern was that there were nights when my mind would race, and I knew I would benefit from white noise or music to help me fall asleep. However, bringing my phone into the bedroom was not an option.
The second concern was that I wanted to wake up peacefully. I would typically wake up with music blaring, which meant my morning started extremely stressful. There is nothing worse than being jolted awake by a loud alarm or blaring rap song and then expecting to have a calm, peaceful, and relaxing morning.
During my research, I discovered that the Hatch Restore is a sound machine that features soothing lights and a sunrise alarm, all rolled into one. That means I can play music when I fall asleep and gently awake to lights mimicking the sunrise with peaceful music.
I don’t have to worry about bringing my phone into my bedroom
The Hatch Restore makes your sleep routine phone-free!

Features
The app-based customization helps you wind down at night and wake up more naturally in the morning. My nighttime routine consists of “drowsy piano” music with red light for 15 minutes, followed by” tranquil ocean” sounds for 30 minutes. It completely changed the game for me, and I have the Oura Ring sleep latency scores to prove it.
In the morning, I have my light set to “Malibu sunrise,” and it turns on 30 minutes before my alarm clock sounds. My alarm sound is the “lofi beats” option, and I feel like it’s the perfect blend of peaceful while still being upbeat enough to gently and naturally wake me up. If you’d like to mirror my settings, I have both the light and alarm set to 80%.
The best features of the Hatch Restore alarm clock are its wind-down routines, such as guided meditations and sleep stories. Having app integration makes it easy to control everything from the Hatch app on your phone without having to bring your phone into your bedroom, which could disrupt your sleep.
I love that everything is customizable and you can fine-tune your bedtime and wake-up settings to match your personal preferences, down to the color and brightness of the light and the exact sound you prefer. Once you set it up, you don’t need your phone by the bed, which is great if you’re trying to reduce screen time.
Something to consider before buying is that if you want some of their premium sounds, then you will have to pay a subscription cost of $4.99 per month. Even though I don’t love subscriptions, I recognize that it’s the way the world is moving. Having seen the improvements to my sleep and energy, it’s a cost that I will gladly pay.
Ever since getting my Hatch alarm clock, I fall asleep faster and wake up with ease. Getting up for early morning flights is no longer something that feels difficult or stressful. I wake up calm and relaxed.
If you’re deciding whether the Hatch Alarm is worth it for you, consider whether you struggle with falling or staying asleep, you dislike traditional alarms (like I did), and you want a clean, modern-looking clock that offers more than just a time display.
If you’re looking for a comprehensive sleep improvement system in one stylish package, the Hatch might be worth the investment. While I initially had sticker shock at the price, I know that after using it almost every night for over a year, it’s worth it. I don’t think I could ever go back; I can’t live without my Hatch Restore sleep routine!
