One of the ways I make the most of weekends at home while still feeling a sense of adventure is with staycations. A “staycation” is time spent at home filled with activities and local attractions in your own backyard. It can take up a day or an entire weekend, and you act like a visitor exploring places you may not go often or have never been to.
Playing tourist in your own city might surprise you!
One of my favorite places for a staycation in Dallas is White Rock Lake.
White Rock Lake is a 1,015-acre city lake located about 5 miles northeast of downtown Dallas. It’s one of the most visited parks in the Dallas Park System.
Here are 5 White Rock Lake activities for your next Dallas staycation:
- Go biking around the lake
- Take a walk, run, or jog and take in the scenery
- Rent a kayak from White Rock Paddle Co.
- Grab your camera or iPhone for a day of photography
- Visit the Dallas Arboretum
You can never play tourist in your own city too often. It’s such a fun way to explore different neighborhoods around you and cherish the time you are home. Whether you want to travel and can’t or are just craving different activities, there’s no reason why you can’t have an adventure.
Explore your own city!
When I am home feeling major wanderlust, I take my camera and explore my backyard at White Rock Lake. If you do the same, leave a comment and let me know where your activities and explorations take you!
